At Water4Chad, we are thrilled to share the success of our latest water project in Fafaza, a village nestled in the Kanem region of Chad. This initiative, made possible through the generosity of donors on LaunchGood, is a testament to the incredible impact we can achieve when communities come together to support those in need.
Meeting Critical Needs
Fafaza, like many other villages in Kanem, has long suffered from limited access to clean and reliable water sources. This scarcity not only affected the 800 residents but also endangered the survival of thousands of livestock, which are critical to the livelihoods of these rural communities. Women and children often walked miles daily to fetch water, a task that exposed them to dangers and left little time for education or other productive activities.
Thanks to the funds raised on LaunchGood, Water4Chad has successfully constructed a modern borehole in Fafaza, providing a sustainable source of clean water for the community.
A Milestone Achieved
The borehole, equipped with a solar-powered pump, now supplies safe drinking water to the villagers and their livestock. This reliable access to water has brought immediate relief and has already started improving the community’s overall health. Families no longer face the constant threat of waterborne diseases, and the reduction in the time spent collecting water is empowering women and children to focus on education and economic activities.
For the thousands of livestock that sustain these communities, the availability of water ensures their health and productivity, securing the community’s food and income sources.
